Frequently Asked Questions
The 16 Society retreats are intimate, limited-capacity experiences that require significant advance planning and financial commitments. Because of this, all deposits are non-refundable. We strongly encourage the purchase of travel insurance to protect against illness, injury, family emergencies, travel delays, weather events, or other unforeseen circumstances.
More than 90 days before the retreat
If your spot is filled by another approved participant, you may be eligible for a partial refund, less your non-refundable deposit and any unrecoverable expenses incurred on your behalf.
61-90 days before the retreat
Refunds will only be considered if your reservation is successfully filled by another approved participant. Any approved refund will be reduced by applicable deposits, merchandise, administrative costs, and other unrecoverable expenses.
60 days or less before the retreat
All payments become non-refundable due to venue commitments, staffing, coaching, merchandise production, food purchases, and other event-related expenses.
While we may attempt to fill your reservation, refunds are not guaranteed. Any exception made within 60 days of the retreat is solely at the discretion of The 16 Society.

Every destination is different, which is why we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all descriptions. Before you reserve your spot, you’ll find a detailed list of exactly what’s included with that specific excursion, along with anything that isn’t. Whether it’s accommodations, meals, beverages, organized pickleball programming, transportation, or resort amenities, we’ll spell it out clearly so you can book with confidence. You’ll also find important details such as whether the destination is adults only, resort policies, and any venue-specific information. Those requirements are established by the host property and vary from one excursion to another. We believe your only surprise should be how much fun you have, not what’s included in your reservation.Antigua: See Details page
Due to the nature of the venues, locations and experiences, this will be determined by each experience. Please read those details carefully. Don’t worry… we will also let you know in advance.
You can purchase trip insurance through providers such as Allianz Travel Insurance or Travel Protection. Travel Insurance can help protect your retreat investment and prepaid travel expenses in the event of an unforeseen circumstance. Please note that these companies are independent third-party providers and are not affiliated with The 16 Society. Any travel insurance policy is purchased directly through the provider, and all coverage, terms, claims, and policy decisions are the responsibility of that provider.
Room arrangements depend on the experience. Please review the accommodation details for your selected event before registering.Resort & Hotel ExperiencesThe 16 Society does not offer roommate matching for resort or hotel stays. If you’d like double occupancy, you are responsible for arranging your own roommate. Both guests must register separately, select the same room type, and name each other as roommates. Double occupancy is confirmed only when both registrations are complete and the roommate selections match. Naming someone who has not registered, has chosen another roommate, or has not named you in return does not confirm a shared room or secure double-occupancy pricing. Without a matching, completed roommate registration, your reservation will default to single occupancy at the applicable rate for your selected room category. All rooms are subject to availability.Private-Home & Airbnb ExperiencesShared accommodations are part of many private-home experiences. The 16 Society assigns rooms based on the home’s layout, available beds, and the group’s needs. You do not need to find your own roommate. If you’re traveling solo, you may share a room with another guest, but you will have your own bed. Guests who do not know each other will not be assigned to share a bed. Traveling with a friend? Both guests should name each other during registration and indicate whether they are comfortable sharing a bed. We will consider these preferences, but specific rooms, bed types, and roommate requests are not guaranteed. Private rooms are available only when specifically offered for that experience.
Absolutely! Specify your roommate's name (first and last, please) on your the registration form. We will try to honor requests whenever possible. BOTH roommates must register before the reservation is finalized.
This will be determined based on the venue and is not assumed. The main focus of each experience is the 16 ladies registered. Please email hello@the16society.com for availability and conditions.
A non-member Companion would be a guest of the resort only. A Companion may play pickleball independently, if permitted by the resort and subject to resort availability and policies. Companions are not included in any 16 Society coaching sessions, clinics, drills, organized court time, reserved group court time, player development activities, team events, or any other pickleball-related programming reserved for registered participants.
